Description
The radiation angle of the sun onto the surface of the Solar Panel continuously changes, due to the movement of the earth. The majority of the sun's rays strike the Solar Panel at an angle (i.e. not at 90°), in particular during Spring and Autumn, when 80% of sun's rays strike the Solar Collector at an angle. The CPC S1 Solar Panel technology developed by Solarfocus allows for efficient use of solar radiation, no matter what the angle of the sun.
The Cylindrical, high-gloss rolled, anodized pure Aluminium Reflectors are protected in the casing from environmental influences, which guarantees a long service life. Due to the Cylindrical (Trough) design of the CPC Reflector, light concentration is optimised and a high percentage of diffuse light is also absorbed (0.87).
The Negative Pressure Relief Valve opens at the first warm-up of the interior of the Collector, when air expands and excess pressure develops. The air escapes, and when the temperature drops, the valve closes and a vacuum develops in the interior of the Collector. The vacuum protects the interior of the Collector from corrosion from outside air and prevents heat losses due to convection. The vacuum also eliminates condensation, thereby protecting the high-selective absorber coating.
As the absorber is illuminated from both sides of the Cylindrical Trough, the rear / underside of the absorber is not exposed to heat loss. Therefore, the CPC S1 Collector requires NO Insulation.
