Wood Chip Boilers are growing in popularity in rural and suburban areas where easy access and fuel storage is available at the back of the property. A Wood Chip Boiler works in much the same way as an oil or gas boiler, except that it uses wood chip as its fuel type instead of traditional fossil fuels.

For Renovation or Retrofit projects, all the existing heating and hot water pipework can be used. The new Wood Chip Boiler is simply integrated into the existing system.

Whereas Wood Pellets (in Bulk form) are usually stored in a sealed Internal or External Hopper, Wood Chip is typically stored in an open shed or area, where it can be easily accessed either via an automated Auger or manually, to fuel the Wood Chip Boiler. It is worth bearing in mind that a tonne of Wood Chip takes up around three times the volume of a tonne of Wood Pellets, so adequate space is essential.
