While most people are aware of Underfloor Heating, many are perhaps less aware of what benefits it offers over and above traditional radiators. Underfloor Heating provides a constant supply of pleasant, low grade heat, evenly spread throughout the property (unlike radiators, which provide a higher intensity of heat next to the radiator and a lower heat intensity elsewhere).
Water circulated through Underfloor Heating systems is generally around 35°C, which delivers a room temperature of approximately 21°C. On the other hand, water pumped through Low Temperature (Aluminium) radiator circuits is generally around 50°C, and rises to 70-80°C in traditional High Temperature (Steel) radiator circuits.
Underfloor Heating is an ideal solution where Heat Pumps are installed, but can also be used with Wood Pellet Boilers as well as with traditional heating systems such as oil and gas.
Many of Enerfina’s Installers have extensive experience of both designing and installing Underfloor Heating systems as this forms an integral part of the installation of systems such as Heat Pumps. Underfloor heating can be installed throughout the property, or a combination of Underfloor Heating and Radiators can be used.
Once the Waterproof Membranes, Floor Insulation and Underfloor Heating Pipework have been laid, the floor finish can be either in traditional Sand and Cement, or a "Liquid Screed" finish can be used.
(i) Easy to install in a New Build or Extension / Renovation. Can be installed in a Retrofit situation, however, some preparatory work such as excavation may be required.
(ii) Efficient way to heat your property. Slow, steady requirement for Fuel / Electricity, as opposed to surges in demand at various times during the day.
(iii) Heat Pumps run Underfloor Heating systems economically, as they avail of cheaper Night Rate electricity to heat up the system overnight.
