Carbon Footprint & Carbon Audit
Introduction
Enerfina has partnered with an Irish company which specialises in ecological and carbon auditing. We offer tailored services and tools for businesses and organisations who want to measure, manage, and reduce their carbon emissions.
Difference between a Carbon Footprint and a Carbon Audit?
A Carbon Footprint quantifies the carbon emissions associated with the final consumption of a product or service regardless of where those emissions occurred in the life cycle. Carbon Footprints are expressed as kilograms or tonnes of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). The footprint has proven to be an understandable indicator of sustainability, which is often seen as an intangible concept. A Carbon Audit is the calculation and assessment of a business or organisation’s carbon emissions and the development of a prioritised Carbon Reduction plan.

Our methodology
The Carbon Footprint calculations which form the basis of our Carbon Audit follow the ‘Global Footprint Network’ standard methodology. This methodology uses a ‘bottom-up’ approach to perform Carbon Footprint Analysis and, wherever possible, uses full life cycle analysis.
Outputs from a Carbon Audit
The outputs of a Carbon Audit are a comprehensive report and management presentation detailing:
- The ‘bottom-up’ Carbon Footprint for your company or organisation.
- Your benchmarked position against best practice and similar companies and organisations.
- Cost effective opportunities for emissions reduction.
- Prioritised next steps for your company or organisation.
Benefits of a Carbon Audit
A Carbon Audit can be used to:
- Demonstrate to your customers, employees and other stakeholders how carbon/environmentally aware your company or organisation has become.
- Position new products and services to take advantage of new markets and customer requirements driven by regulatory and social responses to climate change.
- Reduce costs by identifying where and how your company or organisation can be more efficient.
- Develop a competitive advantage over your competition by developing and communicating a sector leading carbon management plan.
- Act as the first step in the development of a sustainability plan for your company.
